Best Medicine for Erectile Dysfunction


Damiana is a common ingredient in herbal medicine for the treatment of various sexual dysfunctions. Found wild in the United States, Mexico, Central America and Namibia, Damiana is a large shrub that produces yellow flowers. The leaves of this plant are usually the part that is used in herbal medicine.









Damiana contains compounds that stimulate the blood flow, nerves, metabolism, and genitalia of both men and women. The use of Damiana can give a slight "high" that can last up to an hour after its use. Women with Damiana relationship that increases sexual desire and improves sexual stimulation. German herbalists usually prescribe a tonic containing damiana in the treatment of depression and exhaustion. MAO inhibitors in damiana are known to be beneficial for those suffering from depression. However, no evidence-based research studies conclude that damiana can treat this disorder. 


Damiana needs to be used consistently for two to three weeks before effects are detected. This herbal remedy can be bought in the form of pills, in the form of tincture or dry. Dry leaves can be smoked or used in infusions. Large doses of damiana can interact with prescription medications and iron absorption from food. Lemon juice added to a contrast medium may counteract these interactions. Damiana can affect your glucose levels and should be used with caution or avoided by those with diabetes. 


Damiana is generally safe; the FDA has labeled this herb as GRAS (generally recognized as safe). This botanical contains small amounts of substances such as cyanide that can be dangerous in high doses.


 The most common side effect of damiana has been gastrointestinal disorders. This herbal remedy should be avoided by children, pregnant women or those who are nurses, and people with kidney or liver disease. People who are taking medications that are prescribed or in the care of a doctor for other diseases and disorders should talk to their doctor before starting any herbal medicine treatment.
